- On December 1, Eumabois and MVK, the organizer of the Moscow Timber Fair Woodex signed a contract regarding the organization of the fair. Closing the deal depended on the demand of the Eumabois to host the Woodex every other year.

- The environmental impact assessment for a possible second generation biofuel refinery has been concluded in Rauma and Kuusankoski, Finland. In the statement the authority commends that the assessment made by UPM is well prepared and includes a lot of information about the different implementation alternatives and their environmental impacts.

- The wood pellet industry in North America has grown six-fold since 2004, reports the North American Wood Fiber Review. The dramatic expansion has resulted in higher costs for sawdust and wood chips in the regions with the greatest growth, including Western US and Canada.
