Neman PPM Excluded From HELCOM Hot Spots List

JSC Neman PPM (NPPM), a member of North Western Timber Company (NWTC) Group, is being excluded from the HELCOM Hot Spots List. This issue was the focus of the consultation talks held by the RF Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology in Moscow. The talks engaged Igor Maydanov, director of MNR foreign cooperation department and HELCOM chairman, Leonid Korovin, chairman of HELCOM LAND (HELCOM group for surface pollution sources), Yuriy Murashko, deputy general director of NWTC.
The consultation talks highlighted the construction of the purification facilities to be used jointly by the city of Neman and NPPM. Yuriy Murashko presented a project investment feasibility report and said that the facilities will be commissioned in the IV quarter 2009 as was decided by the meeting of the government of Kaliningrad region. Igor Maydanov said that Russian federation is to be an official chairman of the Helsinki Commission from 1 July 2008.
